Grout After

By Mike Marsoun

One of the biggest problems a builder may have in completing a new custom home with extensive tile/stone is dirty grout. The floors are completed, then all the finish trades come through and spills, sawdust, drywall, etc. make the grout look terrible. Ceramic tile and even some stone will weather construction fairly well but new grout, which is very absorbent and unsealed is a different story. I see it all the time.

Eurotech Marble has a method to bring this grout back to it’s original look using our chemicals and pressure extractor. But how can this problem be prevented in the first place.

My suggestion is this, grout after. Have the tile/stone installed and then cover it up until all the finish trades are finished. Then clean out the joints with a shop vac., and grout.

On larger floors this allows for a more seamless grout job as it is completed all at the same time.

Once completed this way you will not be turning over to the owner a floor that looks 3 years old, you will truly be handing over a new floor. It is a little more work to do this way but it will save you endless headaches over the years, trust me on this.
